The Redmi Note series from Xiaomi is a top-rated series in the smartphone world and in African countries such as Cameroon, Nigeria and Kenya. It surely deserves praise. The Redmi Note Note 9 Pro is the latest in the series as it was launched in May 2020. The Note 9 Pro brings with it new features and new looks compared to the Redmi Note 8 Pro which was launched back in September 2019.


You can notice the difference between the 2 phones just by the look of the two devices. However, other features are also different apart from the looks. The following features are the difference between the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro:

1.Display

The Remi Note 8 Pro sports a humongous 6.53 inches IPS LCD display with a 1080 x 2340 screen resolution. The screen also features the morning gorilla glass 5 protection. The screen has a pixel density of 395 PPI and 84.9% screen to body ratio.
As for the Redmi Note 9 Pro, you get a 6.67 inches IPS LCD display with a 1080 x 2400 screen resolution. This leaves the screen with a pixel density of 395 PPI. You also get morning gorilla glass 5 which is similar to the one on the Note 8 Pro. The screen to body ratio of the Note 9 Pro is 84.5% which is higher than that of the Note 8 Pro though the difference is very little.

2. Hardware

The Redmi Note 8 Pro runs on Android 9.0 which is upgradable to Android 10. It also runs on a Mediatek Helio G90T with an Octa-core CPU and a Mali-G76 MC4 GPU.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro runs on Android 10.0 out of the box with the MIUI 11. For the chipset, the Note 9 Pro runs on the Qualcomm SM7125 Snapdragon 720G chipset. You also get an Octa-core CPU and an Adreno 618 GPU. Both phones are on the list to receive MIUI 12. It will be interesting to see how their performances will be after the upgrade.

3.Camera

The cameras on the Note 8 Pro and the Note 9 Pro are pretty the same. The only difference between the cameras on the two devices is the size of the macro camera and the selfie camera.
On the Redmi Note 8 Pro, you get a quad-camera setup with a 64 MP primary camera, 8 MP ultra-wide camera, 2 MP macro shooter, and a 2 MP depth sensor. At the front, you get a 20 MP shooter which is actually more significant than the one on the Note 9 Pro.
For the Redmi Note 9 Pro, you get a 64 MP primary camera, 8 MP ultrawide shooter, 5 MP macro shooter, and a 2 MP depth sensor. At the front, you get a 16 MP camera. Though the selfie camera on the Note 9 Pro is smaller compared to the one on the Note 8 Pro, it still shoots way better and detailed photos.

4.Battery

The battery on the Note 8 Pro is a 4500 mAh battery with 18W fast charging capability. It a big battery but compared to the one on the Note 9 Pro, it looks tiny. This is because the Note 9 Pro is powered by a massive 5020 mAh battery with 30W fast charging capability.
